Recording to a MiniDisc (continued)
In the following steps 5 - 6, your choice must be entered within 5 seconds, otherwise
the system will proceed to the next step automatically.
For just checking, perform step 5 only.
To change the setting, follow the procedure.

Press the CD
MD button.

Turn the jog dial to select "HI" or "NORMAL" mode.
Then press the ENTER button to start recording.
HI
: High speed recording.
NORMAL : Normal speed recording.
You can also change the recording speed using the HIGH/NORMAL button.
When the CD reaches the end, recording will stop.
About track numbers:
New track numbers will be created automati-
cally according to the original tracks (Synchro
mark function).
When you record from a CD to a MiniDisc,
the track numbers recorded on the MiniDisc
may not match the track numbers on the CD.
"OVER" indication in step 6:
If the recording time is longer than the recordable time of the MiniDisc, "OVER" ap-
pears. Then, the system displays the following information.
To continue with the recordable tracks only, press the CD MD button again. When the
recording is finished "EDIT END" will be displayed and the CD and MiniDisc will stop.
Adjusting the recording level:
You can adjust the recording level depending on the recording source by watching the
level meter. If "OVER" appears, lower the level.
If the source level is too low and the level meter does not go to the right, raise the level.
During recording or whilst recording is paused, adjust the recording level using
the 3 or 2 button.
Note for high speed recording:
High speed recording is possible only during digital recording.
If you record tracks copyright-protected by the SCMS (see page 35) from a CD-R etc.
onto a MiniDisc, "CAN'T COPY" will appear on the display. All the copyright-protected
tracks will be skipped automatically and the other tracks will be recorded.
