Connecting the protective earth

The protective conductor discharges dangerous currents, triggering a surge protection
switch. The protective conductor also discharges any interference transmitted from external
power supply cables, signal cables or cables to the I/O devices. The relevant symbol on the
device identifies the terminal for the protective conductor.
Requirement
● T20 screwdriver
● Cable lug for M4
● Protective earth with a minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm

1. Clamp the cable lug onto the
protective earth.
2. Using the M4 thread, firmly attach
the cable lug to the protective
conductor connection on the
device.
3. Connect the protective conductor
to the protective conductor
connection of the cabinet or the
plant in which the device is
installed.
