Setting Shooting Menus
IMAGE ADJUSTMENT
When you take a photograph, the camera automatically compensates
for optical brightness and contrast before recording the photograph on
the CF memory card. The Image Adjustment menu gives you control
over this image compensation.
Auto
Normal
More Contrast Increases the image contrast
Less Contrast Decreases the image contrast
Lighten Image Increases the image brightness
Darken Image Decreases the image brightness
Option
The camera automatically adjusts the contrast and brightness of the
Auto
image according to shooting conditions.
The camera performs same standard brightness and contrast
Normal adjustment for all images. This setting is recommended for images
that will later be retouched on a computer.
The image is processed to emphasize the difference between light and
More Contrast dark areas. This is useful when shooting landscapes and foggy or
cloudy scenes.
The image is processed to reduce the difference between light and
Less Contrast dark areas. This is useful in conditions where the light is very bright
with strong shadows cast on the subject.
Increases the brightness of mid-tones in the image without affecting
Lighten Image detail in the highlights and shadows. This setting can be used on
images that appear too dark when displayed or printed.
Decreases the brightness of mid-tones in the image without affecting
Darken Image detail in the highlights or shadows. This setting can be used on
images that appear too bright when displayed or printed.
• The Image Adjustment indication is displayed
on the Monitor when an Image Adjustment
other than Auto or Normal is set.

Description
SATURATION CONTROL
Adjust the Saturation to control the intensity of color in the picture. In
this mode, you can specify a B&W (black-and-white) image.
+1 Maximum
0 Normal
–1 Moderate
–2 Minimum
B&W
Option
Increases the color saturation of the image. Suitable for direct printing
+1 Maximum
where a photo-print effect is required.
0 Normal Sets the saturation control level to normal. Saturation can be decreased to
–1 Moderate normal to –1 (moderate ) or –2 (minimum). Suitable for images intended
–2 Minimum for subsequent retouching or manipulation on a computer.
Images are recorded as monochrome data and the display on the Monitor
B&W also changes to black-and-white. The size of the image file is the same as
for the color image but the resolution is higher.
• The B&W (black-and-white) indication is displayed on
the Monitor when B&W is selected.
Sets the saturation level to +1.
Sets the saturation level to normal.
Sets the saturation level to –1.
Sets the saturation level to –2.
Sets image to black-and-white.
