Open System
Open System (no authentication or encryption
Shared Key (default)
If "Shared Key" is selected, you need to enable the WEP and enter at least one shared key.
For easy installation, Open System is the default. However, NETGEAR strongly
recommends that you change to Shared Key.

WEP and Encrypion Keys

Enable or Disable the Wired Equivalent Privacy. If WEP is enabled, you can manually or
automatically program the four data encryption keys.
Manual - Type the keys as hexadecimal digits (any combination of 0-9, a-f, or A-F)
Automatic - Enter a word or group of printable characters in the Passphrase box and click the
Generate Keys button.
Shared Key (1-4)
Specifies the shared key value in hexadecimal format based on the key size selected: 64 bits,
128 bits, or 152 bits. Default Key Size: 64 bits
Default Shared Key
Specifies the preferred share key entry from 1 to 4. Default: 1
Note: You must configure all PCs and Access Points in your network with the same KEY values
to communicate.
