When you enter text using the standard tap method (see
page 30), the flashing cursor changes to a block cursor,
and the soft key functions change:
Block cursor
indicates
current
highlighted
character.
After 2 seconds, the block
cursor reverts to a flashing
cursor and moves to the
next position.

Choosing a Text Mode

Multiple text entry modes make it easy for you to enter
names, numbers, and messages.

Press
from any text entry screen to select a text mode:
iTAP
Let the phone predict each word as you
(é)
enter it (see page 31).
Tap Method
Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by
(t)
pressing a key one or more times (see
page 30).
Numeric
Enter numbers only.
(è)
Symbol
Enter symbols only (see page 35).
(ê)
Note: The text mode you select remains active until you
select another mode.
