    Welcome to Avaya Wireless LAN, the easy way to wireless computing. This booklet introduces you to the Avaya Wireless LAN Outdoor Router-II (OR-II), and will help you to get your network “on the air” within a snap. It describes the most common configurations and a quick start set-up.

    Figure 2-2 OR-II Identification Label You are also advised to write down the Licence Key number of the OR-II unit (printed on the same label), and the Serial Number and MAC address of the Avaya Wireless LAN PC Card(s) that you use with your OR-II (this information is printed on a small label at the back side of the PC Card).

    Install the OR-II - Fix Mounting Plate and Power Supply Fix Mounting Plate and Power Supply You can mount the OR-II on a vertical surface like a wall or place the unit on a flat surface such as a table or cabinet.

    Install the OR-II - Mount the Processor Module Mount the Processor Module 1. Connect the DC power cable to the DC power inlet of the processor module. 2. Sliding the four recesses of the processor module over the corresponding tabs on the mounting plate (see Figure 2-4 on page 2-6).
  • Page 13 Before you proceed: Verify that all four recesses are fitted correctly onto the corresponding tabs of the mounting plate.     Connect the Network Interfaces 1. Insert your Avaya Wireless LAN PC Card(s) into the processor module. One PC Card slot of the Avaya Wireless LAN OR-II is equipped with a plastic Slot Protector Card. The purpose of this card is to protect the OR-II unit from dust when it is used with a single Avaya Wireless LAN PC Card only.

    Install the OR-II - Power-up the Device Power-up the Device To power-up the OR-II, connect the device to an AC wall-outlet with the provided AC power cord. WARNING: Placement of OR-IIs must satisfy the following installation requirements: Connect the unit to a grounding type AC wall outlet (100-240 VAC) using the standard power cord as supplied with the unit.

    Install the OR-II - Install the OR Manager Software Install the OR Manager Software Your OR-II is almost ready for use. You can configure the OR-II using the Avaya Wireless LAN OR Manager software. To install the Avaya Wireless LAN OR Manager software, proceed as follows: 1.
  • Page 19 Select the drive letter of your CD-ROM player in the Browse window, then select the file setup.exe, and click the Open button. Click the OK button in the Run window. The Avaya CD Browser will start-up. 4. From the Avaya CD Browser main menu, select the Install Software button, then select the Install OR Manager button.

    Installation must at all times conform to local regulations. e. When connecting the OR-II to an outdoor antenna system, consult the documentation that came with the outdoor antenna kit for additional regulatory information, safety instructions and installation requirements.
