Troubleshooting (continued)
Problem
No welder output when
switched on and Tripped
protection/alert
indicator is illuminated.
Weak arc strength/non-
penetrating weld.
Frequent circuit breaker
trips.
Poor welds.
Dif ult to start an arc.
Possible Cause
Tripped thermal protector by
overheat (Tripped
protection/alert indicator turns
on).
Overheat caused by
environmental factor (high room
temperature or insuf
ow).
Incorrect input voltage to
welder.
Long or improper extension
cord.
Input power is too low.
Poor ground clamp, torch or
electrode holder connection.
Wrong size or worn contact tip.
Wrong welding wire size or type.
Circuit breaker is insuf
the working current of the
welder.
Too much amperage is drawing
due to the use of overlarge
welding wire.
Improper current/voltage setting.
Workpiece is not clean (such as
rusty, painted or greasy).
Poor ground clamp or
torch/electrode holder
connection.
Rusty or dirty welding wire.
Welding amperage is low.
Clogged contact tip.
Cool the welder for at least 10 minutes. The Tripped
protection/alert indicator LED should turn off after welder
cools down.
Reduce the duration of the welding period, or duty cycle, or
duration of use.
Check whether the fan inside the welder is working
properly.
Relocate to a cool working environment.
Check whether there is obstruction blocking air ow in the
ent air
room. Clear the obstruction if needed.
Check the outlet voltage.
Use a proper extension cord.
Verify your welder's output voltage and current. Ask a
quali ed electrician for help if necessary.
Check connection of ground cable, torch or electrode holder
and make sure they are well connected.
Replace with the correct size contact tip or replace with a
new contact tip.
Recommended welding wires are 0.030/0.035 in. flux core
welding wire.
ent for
Make sure the circuit breaker ts the working current of
the welder.
Refer to a quali ed electrician if you are not able to gure
out.
Recommended welding wires are 0.030/0.035 in. flux core
welding wire.
Make sure the welding current/voltage matches the
recommended setting on chart.
Ensure workpiece is clean and dry.
Check and make sure ground clamp/workpiece have good
connection; torch/electrode holder and machine have good
connection.
Check your wire. Clean it or replace with a new wire spool.
Increase welding amperage.
Clean or replace contact tip.
