Compass (Only for models with the compass inner ring)

1
The compass is functional only within the northern hemisphere, and it may not function properly
at lower latitudes (South of the Tropic of Cancer) depending on the season of the year. Please
use the compass in places where the direction of the sun can be determined.
While keeping the dial level, point the hour hand towards the sun. The direction of south is
indicated by the middle point of the arc between the 12 o'clock marker and the time indicated by
the hour hand.
* The compass is so designed to provide only a rough indication of directions, and should not be used where
accuracy is critical.
● For models with the rotating
compass inner ring
Turn the crown for the rotating compass inner ring
to set "S" on the rotating compass inner ring to the
direction of the south.

How to set the time and date

■ How to set the time and date
* When setting the date only, refer to "Manual date adjustment at the end of the month" → P.21.
1
Make sure that the watch is working.
Check that the seconds hand is moving at one-second intervals.
If the seconds hand is moving at two-second intervals or the seconds hand has stopped, charge the
watch by exposing the dial of the watch to light. "Charging the battery" → P.37
2
Check that the watch hands are not displaying any time between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.
If a time between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. is being displayed, pull the crown to the second click, advance the
hands beyond the 1 a.m. position, and push the crown back in.
* This procedure is required to ensure the proper engagement of the date driving wheel.
* Each time the hour hand makes two full rotations by turning the crown, the date is adjusted one day. While
turning the crown, the date changes at exactly midnight. When setting the hour hand, be sure that AM/PM is
set correctly (For the models V174 and V175, the 24-hour hand can be used as an AM/PM indicator. "Names
of the parts and functions" → P.12, 13)
5
Pull out the crown to the second click
and set the time.
Pull out the crown to the second click when the
seconds hand is at the 12 o'clock position; the
seconds hand stops on the spot.
Turn the crown to advance the hands until the date
changes to the next. The time is now set for the A.M.
period. Advance the hands to set the correct time.
* For models V174 and V175, the 24-hour hand can be
used as an AM/PM indicator.
* In order to set the time accurately, turn the minute
hand 4 to 5 minutes ahead and then return it to the
correct time.
● If you own model V172 or V174:
It is recommended to set the minute hand two minutes ahead of the correct time (proceed to operation
of the procedure 6).
● If you own model V175 or V176:
Continue to procedure 7.
* If you do not know the caliber number of your watch: The caliber number shows your watch type. "Performance
and type" → P.43
