Upgrade Previous Devices First If you have Legacy IBM High IOPS Adapters configured for ioMemory VSL 2.x or earlier that you wish to use with ioMemory VSL software version 3.x, you must upgrade the firmware on the previously installed devices before installing new devices in the system.

    Installing Power Cables Some IBM High IOPS Adapters are compliant with the PCIe 2.0 bus specification of 25W and do not require external power in compliant PCIe slots. Other devices require more than the 25W to function. Second Generation IBM High IOPS Duo Adapters do require additional power through the provided power cable.
