Overview
The HD Upconverter Board HKPF-1125A is designed
1)
to convert NTSC (D1 SDI
signal or PAL (D1 SDI) signal to HD SDI signal
conforming to the SMPTE-292M.
The HKPF-1125A can be installed in the PFV-
HD50A/HD300 Digital Video Interface Unit. When
installed, the HKPF-1125A draws its power from the
interface unit.
Since the HKPF-1125A shares the same dimensions
and voltage specifications as the other HKPF-series
boards for the PFV-HD50A/HD300, it can be used in
any combination with the other boards, thus providing
high flexibility in system configurations.
Notes
• When the only HKPF-1125A are installed in the
PFV-HD50A/HD300 Digital Video Interface Unit,
the maximum number of boards which can be
installed is as follows.
PFV-HD50A: Maximum 4 boards
PFV-HD300: Maximum 11 boards
• The setting of the on-board switches should be
performed by qualified service technicians.

Features of the HKPF-1125A
Conversion to HD SDI signal
The HKPF-1125A is capable of converting the NTSC
(D1 SDI/D2 SDI/analog composite) signal or PAL (D1
SDI) signal to the HD SDI signal.
Output of embedded audio
The HKPF-1125A can output the HD SDI signal in
which the embedded audio signal of the D1 or D2 SDI
signal is embedded.

Selectable conversion mode
The following modes can be selected for conversion
mode.
Frame/Field adaptive: Frame mode and field mode
changes according to the result of the motion
detection.
Field (fixed): The NTSC image is converted to the
HD SDI image using the data within the field.
Frame (fixed): The NTSC image is converted to the
HD SDI image using the data within the frame.
Selectable aspect ratio
The following modes can be selected for the aspect
ratio of the HD SDI output.
SQUEEZE: The NTSC image (aspect ratio 4:3) is
expanded horizontally to fit the HD image (aspect
ratio 16:9).
LETTER BOX: The upper and lower sides of the
NTSC image are cropped, reducing its height by
1/4 (aspect ratio 16:9).
EDGE CROP: The NTSC image appears in a slot,
with its aspect ratio unchanged.
Selectable background color in the edge crop mode
The color of the black parts on the right and left sides of
the display in the edge crop mode is selectable with the
optional HD Digital Video Controller HKDV-503 or
HKDV-900.
Output with synchronized to the input external
SYNC signal
The HKPF-1125A can output the HD SDI signal with
synchronized to the input external SYNC signal (1125
or 525/625 SYNC signal) which synchronizes to the
input video signal.
Note
The phase difference between the external SYNC signal
and the input video signal should be within ±3 msec.
Remote control
The adjustment for the video gain and image enhancer
etc. can be remotely controlled with the optional HD
Digital Video Controller HKDV-503 or HKDV-900.
