Capturing screens using the Connectivity Kit

One of the most powerful abilities of the
Connectivity Kit is its ability to capture
images of the calculator screen. These
images can be pasted into a document or
into a Paint program for further processing.
This allows teachers to create worksheets
that include images of what the student
should see. Students can create reports
that include graphs and tables from your
calculator.
Any screen can be captured at any
moment, even if it is only partially
drawn. The capture is triggered by
pressing ON+1. This means holding
down the ON key and, while still
holding it down, pressing and
releasing the 1 key then ON. When
you do the image appears on the
computer. The images to the right
and above show the screen capture
process on the two different pieces
of software. See page 203.
Once the image is captured, the Options menu on the
HPGComm software package allows you to perform
simple tasks such as putting a border around the
image, and rotating or resizing the image. The File
menu will allow you to save the image as a BMP file.
The software for the hp 39g+ also has options to allow
you to copy the image to the clipboard, or to save it as
a BMP file.
The Edit menu on HPGComm has a single option of
Copy to clipboard which allows you to transfer the
image into any other software capable of receiving it. Windows Paint is
suitable. Most word processors will also accept images pasted directly from
the clipboard.
