Tare Operation

You may wish to weigh ingredients in a bowl or other container (not included). In this case, you will need
to tare, or offset, the weight of the bowl so that only the weight of the ingredients is displayed.
1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the platform without tipping or falling. Do not use a
heavy container, as this might reduce the maximum capacity of the scale.
2. While the scale is off, place the empty container on the scale platform. Turn the scale on. The display
will turn on, show "8888" and then zero. The weight of the container has been zeroed out.
3. Add the ingredient to be weighed. The weight of the ingredient alone will display.
4. The weight of additional ingredients may be tared out as well. For example, if a recipe calls for ½ lb
rice and ½ lb beans, place the rice into the bowl. Once the correct amount of rice is weighed, press the
"TARE/▲" button. The scale shows "tArE", then resets to zero. Add the ½ lbs of beans. Both ingredients
have been accurately weighed in the same bowl.
5. When weights have been tared out, the display will show a negative number when the items are
removed from the scale. To reset the scale back to zero for a new measurement, press the "TARE/▲"
button. The scale shows "tArE", then resets to zero.

Timer Operation

Your scale is equipped with a convenient digital timer, which appears at the upper right corner of the
display. To set the timer:
1. Press the "ON/OFF" button to turn the scale on. The scale will show "8888", then zero.
2. When zero appears on the screen, press the "TIMER" button. The minute digits blink.
3. Press the "TARE/▲" or "UNIT/▼" button to change minutes. Press and hold the button to advance
digits quickly.
4. Press "TIMER" to confirm the minutes. The second digits blink.
5. Press the "TARE/▲" or "UNIT/▼" button to change seconds. Press and hold the button to advance
digits quickly.
6. Press "TIMER" to confirm the seconds and begin timer countdown. An hourglass icon appears next to
the timer digits to indicate the timer is counting down.
7. Press "TIMER" to pause the timer (the hourglass icon disappears to indicate the timer is paused).
Press "TIMER" again to restart timer countdown.
NOTE: The timer can only be reset, not restarted. Press "ON/OFF" to turn off the scale, then turn it back
on and set a new time if desired.
8. When the timer reaches "00:00", the alarm sounds and the timer digits blink. Press "TIMER" to turn off
the alarm. Otherwise, the alarm will sound for approximately 1 ½ minutes, and then automatically turn
off.
9. The timer will count down from 99 minutes, 59 seconds.
10. To cancel the timer during countdown, turn the scale off and on. The timer digits will reset to zero.
NOTE: The timer digits will remain on the LCD screen if in use, but the weight digits will turn off to
conserve battery power. The weight function can be used again by turning the scale on, but the timer will
reset to zero and a new time needs to be set if desired.
Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C) Room Temperature Readings
Your scale is equipped with an ambient room temperature thermometer, which appears at the upper left
corner of the display. To switch between °F and °C temperature displays, turn the scale on and wait for
zero. Press and hold down the "UNIT/▼" button. While holding down "UNIT/▼", also press and hold the
"TARE/▲" button at the same time. The temperature display will change.
