Always disconnect the
machine
before performing main-
tenance. Failure to do
this may result in serious
personal injury.
Schedule
For optimum performance from your machine,
follow this maintenance schedule and refer to any
specific instructions given in this section.
Daily Maintenance:
•
Clean table, boring head assembly, and
motor of sawdust and resin.
•
Check for loose mounting bolts.
•
Check for worn or damaged boring bits.
•
Check for worn or damaged wires.
•
Check for any other unsafe condition.
Weekly Maintenance:
•
Clean and lubricate headstock ways and
leadscrew.
Monthly Maintenance:
•
Lubricate boring head assembly.
Cleaning
Vacuum excess wood chips and sawdust, and
wipe off the remaining dust with a dry cloth. If any
resin has built up, use a resin dissolving cleaner
to remove it. Treat all unpainted steel with a non-
staining lubricant after cleaning.

Lubrication
The Model G0642 has three points of lubrication:
1) the boring head assembly, 2) the headstock
slide shafts, and 3) the headstock leadscrew.
To lubricate the boring head assembly:
1.
DISCONNECT THE BORING MACHINE
FROM POWER!
2.
Use a grease gun to inject two or three pumps
of multi-purpose grease into each of the two
grease fittings, located on either end of the
boring head rear face (see Figure 25).
