Appliqué stitching

a Cut out the appliqué, leaving a seam allowance
between 3 and 5 mm (1/8 and 3/16 inch).

b Place a pattern made of thick paper or stabilizer on the
back of the appliqué, and then fold over the seam
allowance using an iron.
c Turn the fabric over, and then baste or fuse it onto the
fabric that it will be attached to.

• If glue is used to hold the appliqué in place on
the fabric, do not apply glue to areas that will be
sewn with the machine. If glue adheres to the
needle or bobbin case, the machine may be
damaged.
