What Is Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi Calling, also known as Universal Mobile Access (UMA), is provided by some cellular
carriers both to augment their coverage and to provide free calls over Wi-Fi. This is not Voice
over IP (VoIP) calling but a regular GSM voice call, routed via a Wi-Fi hotspot, over the Internet,
to your carrier. Because the call is not using the cellular network infrastructure, the calls are free,
and because of the speeds at which Wi-Fi networks operate, the call quality is much higher
