Installing the Drivers in Windows 98/Me
Windows 98 Installation
1.
Make sure the computer is turned on.
2.
Insert the installation CD. The installation wizard will launch
automatically.
3.
Read the information on the "Welcome" dialog box, then click "Next".
4.
Read the information on the "Important Information" dialog box. Then,
click "Next". The driver installation will proceed.
5.
To complete the installation process, you must restart your computer.
Do this by clicking "Finish".
6.
After the computer restarts, plug the PDA Adapter into an available USB
port on your computer or USB hub.
7.
The Windows OS detects your PDA Adapter and completes the
installation process.
Verifying Proper Installation of the Drivers in Windows 98 and Me
1.
Right-click on "My Computer" and then left-click on "Properties".
2.
Next, click on the "Device Manager" tab.
3.
In Device Manager, look under "Ports (Com and LPT)" by left-clicking on
the "+" sign in front of it.
4.
In the list that appears, you see "Serial on USB (Com?)" (The question
mark will be replaced with whichever com port number your computer
assigns to it.)
5.
If there are no errors indicated, then your device is properly installed
and ready to use.
Note: Make sure that the handheld you are connecting to this Adapter is set
up to work with the correct com port for the Adapter (possibly com port 3). If
you need help setting this up, please contact the manufacturer of the device
for assistance.
