6 Maintenance
6.1 Introduction
Make sure that the truck undergoes regular maintenance as specified in
Periodic maintenance, page 142. Truck safety, truck efficiency and the
truck's expected service life depend on the service and maintenance the
truck receives.
Only use spare parts recommended by the truck manufacturer when
performing service and repairs, see the truck manufacturer's spare parts
list.
Toyota recommends that you contact your nearest Toyota representative to
make a service and maintenance agreement in order to ensure the truck's op-
erating economy and safety.
Only service technicians that are trained on this type of truck may perform
service work and repairs.
Service work for the operator
The operator must perform the daily checks according to the directions
in Checks before use, page 129.
Maintenance by service technicians
The operator must perform the maintenance according to the directions
in Periodic maintenance, page 142. All maintenance must be docu-
mented in a service report.
6.2 Cleaning and washing
To prolong the truck's service life, cleaning and washing must be performed
every week.
Use a well-known degreasing agent, diluted to the proper concentration.
Wash off loose dirt with lukewarm water.
Do not wash electrical components with a high-pressure washer.
6.3 Periodic maintenance
Periodic maintenance items on the truck should be handled by a service tech-
nician at the stipulated time intervals of 12 months, as shown in the summary
below. For detailed maintenance schedules, please see the Repair Manual.
