improvements may not be covered in this man‐
ual.

Safety Precautions and
Working Techniques
Special safety precautions must be
observed when working with this
power tool because of its sharp cut‐
ting attachment.
Before commissioning, it is important
to read and understand the User
Manual and to keep it in a safe place
for future reference. Failure to
observe the User Manual may lead to
serious or even fatal injury.
2.1
Notes on Usage
Use your palm cutter only for cutting the fronds
of oil palms and harvesting fruit.
Do not use for other types of palms (e.g. orna‐
mental palms).
The palm cutter must not be used for any other
purpose due to an increased risk of accidents
and damage to the machine. The product must
not be modified in any way – this could also
cause accidents or damage.
2.2
General Notes
Observe the national safety regulations issued,
e.g. by the employers' liability insurance associa‐
tion, social security institutions, occupational
safety and health authorities and other organiza‐
tions.
The use of machines that emit noise may be limi‐
ted to certain hours of the day as specified by
national and/or regional or local regulations.
If you have not used this tool before: Have your
dealer or a trained expert show you how to oper‐
ate it properly and safely.
Minors should never be allowed to use the
motorized device – except for apprentices over
the age of 16 when working under supervision.
Children, animals and onlookers must remain at
a safe distance.
The user is responsible for accidents or risks
involving third parties or their property.
Do not lend or rent out your power tool without
the User Manual. Be sure that anyone using it
understands the information contained in this
manual.

Anyone operating the machine must be well res‐
ted, in good physical health and in a good state
of mind.
If you have any condition that might be aggrava‐
ted by strenuous work, check with your doctor
before operating a machine.
If you have a pacemaker: The ignition system of
your machine produces an electromagnetic field
of very low intensity. This field may interfere with
some pacemakers. STIHL recommends that per‐
sons with pacemakers consult their physician
and the pacemaker manufacturer to minimize
any health risk.
Do not operate the power tool if you have con‐
sumed alcohol or taken medication which may
impair responsiveness, or taken drugs.
2.2.1
Clothing and Equipment
Wear proper protective clothing and equipment.
Clothing must be sturdy but allow
complete freedom of movement.
Wear long trousers.
Clothing which could become trapped in brush or
moving parts of the machine should not be worn.
Do not wear a scarf, necktie or jewelry. Tie up
and secure long hair above your shoulders.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of eye injuries,
wear close-fitting safety glasses in
accordance with European Standard
EN 166. Make sure the safety
glasses are a snug fit.
Wear "personal" sound protection, e.g. ear
defenders.
Wear a safety hard hat where there is a danger
of head injuries from falling objects.
Wear sturdy shoes with non-slip
soles.
Wear sturdy protective gloves made
of resistant material (e.g. leather).
STIHL offers a comprehensive range of personal
protective equipment.
