Completing setup changes
Digital Output
You can change the audio output system. Select the
correct setting for the connected digital audio devices.
LPCM
Select "LPCM, " if your digital audio device is not
equipped with a Dolby digital decoder. When audio
signals in Dolby digital format are played, they are
converted to linear PCM format before being output.
Bitstream
Select "Bitstream," if your digital audio device is
equipped with a Dolby digital decoder. Dolby digital
format audio signals are directly output without
modification.
For DTS-format audio signals
Connect a digital audio device equipped with a DTS
decoder, then select "Bitstream."*

Do not select "LPCM." If you do so, audio will not be output.

Follow the steps 1 to 4 on page 34, then proceed below
to complete the setting.

Select "Digital Output," then press ENTER.
The setup screen for digital output is displayed:
The currently selected item is highlighted in yellow.

Press V/v to select the desired audio output (LPCM/
Bitstream).

Press ENTER.
The setup screen reappears automatically. You can
check the desired audio output under "Digital
Output."

Caution
Improper settings may cause noise harmful to your ears and
damage your speakers. Read the instruction manual supplied
with the digital audio device you connected.
To end or drop the setup change and resume
playback
1 Press SET UP.
2 Press N to start playback.
• DVD/Video CD
The disc plays from the beginning*

If the resume playback is still activated, the disc plays
from the point you stopped playback.
• Audio CD
The disc plays from the point you stopped
playback.
Note
If you want to return to the setup screen (page 34) while
completing the setup change, press RETURNO or B.
