    DIGITAL UPSAMPLING MODE–the first receiver to have 192kHz/24-bit DACs for all channels enables the TX-DS989 to take a 48kHz digital signal and double its sampling frequency to 96kHz– twice as much signal information, for greater detail and clarity.

    • Turning on the TX-DS989 may cause a momentary power surge that might interfere with other electrical equipment on the same circuit. If this is a problem, plug the TX-DS989 into a different electrical circuit.     Front panel facilities When not using either Rec Out or Zone 2, press that button and then press the Off button to turn off the signal. If the Rec Out or Zone 2 signal is turned on and the connected component is not turned on, the electric signal will still be sent through the circuitry and the excess load may cause deterioration of the audio signal.

    Rear panel facilities Here is an explanation of the terminals found on the rear of the TX-DS989 and how they are used. Before connecting your audio and video components, be sure to read this section carefully and then proceed to the explanations on how to connect each individual component (see pages 16).
  • Page 13 The TX-DS989 is supplied with two AC mains outlets for connecting the power cords from other devices so that their power is supplied through the TX-DS989. By doing this, you can use the STANDBY/ON button on the TX-DS989 to turn on and off the connected devices as well.

There are many ways that any one component can be connected, and it is up to you to decide which method best fits your situation. The directions given here are only one option and should only be thought of as such.

For surround playback, the configuration and placement of your speakers are very important.     2. Input Setup menu This menu allows you to setup the various input sources available with the TX-DS989. Each input source may have a great number of settings that are difficult to keep track of, so we recommend making a chart to record what you have set and for which component to prevent confusion later.

    Input Setup Input source signals a. Analog/PCM Analog sources consist of LP records, AM and FM broadcasts, cassette tapes, and the such. PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) is one form of digital audio signals and is recorded directly onto compact discs and DVDs without compression. b.
