Chapter 5. Solving problems

The following table contains troubleshooting information to help you solve some
basic problems that you might have with the EXP3000.

Possible cause
Possible solutions
Drive failure
Replace the failed hard disk drive. See "Replacing a
hot-swap hard disk drive" on page 28.
Board failure
Replace the failed ESM. See "Replacing an ESM"
on page 29.
General machine
A status or fault LED somewhere on the EXP3000
fault
is lit. Check for amber LEDs on components. See
Chapter 3, "EXP3000 controls, LEDs, and power,"
on page 17.
The EXP3000 is
Make sure that all EXP3000 power cables are
turned off
connected and that the power is on. If applicable,
make sure that the main circuit breakers for the rack
are turned on.
ac or dc power
Check the main circuit breaker and ac or dc outlet.
failure
Power-supply
Replace the power supply. See "Replacing a
failure
hot-swap power supply" on page 30.
Midplane failure
Have the EXP3000 serviced.
Drive rebuild or
No action is required.
identity in process
Power supply
1. Install four or more hard disk drives, turn off the

the controller or device into which the other end
of the SAS cable is connected.
