10 Gigabit Ethernet switches

The Cluster 1350 uses the following switches:
v SMC 8708L2 Tiger IV (8-port) 10 Gb Ethernet Switch Module for IBM
BladeCenter
v Nortel High-Speed 10 Gb Ethernet Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter

I/O modules

I/O modules provide an unconfigured network connection that enables the blade
servers to connect to an existing network infrastructure. No configuration is
required. The cluster supports the following I/O modules:
v IBM BladeCenter Gigabit Ethernet switch module (4-port)
v Copper Pass-thru Module for IBM BladeCenter
v IBM BladeCenter Optical Pass-thru Module
v Cisco Systems Gigabit Ethernet Switch for IBM BladeCenter
v Brocade Entry SAN Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter
v Brocade 4 Gb SAN Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter (20-port)
v InfiniBand Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter
v IBM BladeCenter Layer 2/Layer 3 Copper Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module
v Qlogic 4 Gb switch module (20-port) for IBM BladeCenter
v IBM TotalStorage SAN switch module (16 B-2)

Terminal servers

The terminal server provides serial connections for cluster modules. The Cluster
1350 uses the following switches as terminal servers:
v Cyclades terminal server with a single power supply (32-port)
v Cyclades terminal server (48-port)
The main purpose of the terminal server is to have out-of-band console access to
cluster components.

High-speed Myrinet switches and line cards

This is an optional 2 Gb or 4 Gb switch or line card for interconnecting cluster
nodes and storage nodes. The Cluster 1350 supports the following Myrinet models:
v M3-E32 (5-slot)
v M3-E64 (9-slot)
v M3-E128 (17-slot)
v M3F-PC164C-2 (PCI adapter)
v M3F-PCIXF-2 line card
v M3F2-PCIXE-2 (low-profile PCI-X dual-port card)
v M3-SW16-8E (Ethernet line card)
