CAUTION
Use caution when routing wires and cables. Avoid severe bending and
routing over sharp edges. Use grommets when possible to avoid wear on
cable insulation.
1. Install the UPS cable that runs from the SFU ONT to the Power/
Alarm Connector of the UPS via the customer provided PVC con‐
duit (or method used by your local telephone company practice).
2. Close the electronics module closed and tighten the security screw
with the 5/32 Hex tamper proof bit.
3. If necessary, tie wrap both the #6 ground wire and the UPS cable
run to the Buried Fiber Drop riser conduit.
POTS Connection
The telephone service or POTS connections can be made with either two‐
screw terminal bridges, or RJ‐11 connectors.
If the two‐screw terminal bridges are used the RJ‐11 jacks provide a
diagnostic test point. Inserting an RJ‐11 jack (i.e., telephone cable or
telephone test set) will connect the telephone set to the SFU ONT and also
disconnect the subscriber service from the SFU ONT providing fault
isolation to the SFU or premises wiring.
To terminate the POTS lines on the two‐screw terminal bridges complete
the following:
1. Trim each wire to length and strip insulation. Identify each pair in
the service cable.

3. Wrap the appropriate wire around the appropriate screw and
tighten the screws to secure the connections.
POTS can also be connected directly to the RJ‐11 jack. In this case the two‐
screw terminal bridges become isolated and are not used.
RF Connection
Route the RF cable through the large grommet at the bottom of the
enclosure and attach it to the RF connector located on bottom the
electronics Module. Refer to the illustration on the first page as needed.

Refer to the figure below and complete the following steps:

A: TV/DHCT Port. Starting at the home set-top connect to the data network
via the SWRD's TV/DHCT port.
B: ONT/Power Port. Downstream video and power from ONT.
C. LAN Connection Port. Data connection for computer network.
D. ONT Connection Port. Data connection to the ONT and power from the ONT.
1. When not in use, place water sealing F‐connector boots or shrink
tubing on "A" and "B".
2. Attached the SWRD using the Mounting Points to the customer's
premesis in close proximity to the SFU ONT.
3. Ground the SWRD by attaching one end of an 18‐gauge wire (or
larger) to the Earth Ground screw. Attach the other end of the wire
to the same ground as the SFU ONT.
4. Remove the retaining screw that holds the Connector Cover to the
SWRD, and remove the Upper and Lower Rubber Seals.
5. Connect power to the SWRD by connecting the RJ‐45
of the SFU ONT to the RJ‐45
SWRD. Refer to the following table as needed:

6. Once power is connected to the SWRD, the Power LED will
illuminate steady.
7. Position the RJ‐45 cables in the slots in the Upper and Lower Rubber
Seals, and reinstall them in the SWRD.
8. Install the Connector Cover and secure the Connector Cover using
the Retaining Screw. Torque the screw to 5 in‐lbs.
9. Using coaxial cable, connect the TV/DHCT port (A) of the SWRD to
the set‐top network inside the customer's home.
10. Using coaxial cable, connect the RF Drop from the SFU ONT to the
ONT/Power Port (B) on the SWRD.
11. Tie wrap all wires to the appropriate locations to provide maximum
stress relief and minimize any potential hazards to the connections.
