The Bose
SE-1 System Expander
The SE-1 system expander is designed for use with the Bose TA-1 theater amplifier. It provides
switching for all the home theater sources – DVD, DBS, VCR, etc. – and provides control infor-
mation to the TA-1 amplifier.
Features
• Designed for remote, out-of-sight installation
• Fully integrated with the BUILT-INvisible® TA-1 amplifier and BUILT-INvisible music centers
• Small, remote IR sensor
• Five audio/video inputs. Four digital inputs (two with optical connections)
• Logic-level TV sense input can be used to automatically switch sources and turn on the
amplifier when the TV is turned on
• IR controlled
• Works with both the two-zone CD20 music center and the four-zone CD50 multi-room
interface (MRI).

• Bose source cable
• IR sensor
• Digital patch cable
• Composite video patch cable
• S-Video patch cable
• Power pack
CAUTION: Use the SE-1 system expander only with the supplied power pack, which is UL listed.
Other required parts
In addition to the parts supplied with the system expander, installing the system requires use of
the appropriate Bose source plate and the Bose digital source plate. System operation requires
the use of a universal or "learning" IR remote control.
