  • Page 4: The Bose® Se-1 System Expander

The Bose SE-1 System Expander The SE-1 system expander is designed for use with the Bose TA-1 theater amplifier. It provides switching for all the home theater sources – DVD, DBS, VCR, etc. – and provides control infor- mation to the TA-1 amplifier.
  • Page 5: Connecting The Se-1 System Expander

Figure 2. Overview of SE-1 system expander connections In determining which jacks to use on the SE-1 system expander, use the following guidelines: Input connections • Connect the A/V sources – DVD, DSS, etc. – to the five sets of input jacks on the right side of the SE-1 system expander connection panel.
  • Page 6: Output Connections

    • Insert one connector into the COAX DIGITAL AUDIO output jack on the SE-1 system expander. • Insert the other end into RCA jack #1 on the Bose digital source plate. Use Cat-5 cable from the back of the digital source plate to send the digital audio signal to the TA-1 amplifier.
  • Page 7 VIDEO AUDIO input (and the last digital input selected). In fact, with any source change (setting the SE-1 to video input 2, for example), the SE-1 system expander automatically changes the CD50 source to AUX, even if the CD50 had been off.
  • Page 8: Adding A Tv On/Off Sensor

The SE-1 system expander supports a logic-level TV on/off sensing device (not included). When the logic input is high (4 – 5VDC), the SE-1 system expander sends an ON command to the TA-1 theater amplifier. When the logic input is low (0 – .5VDC), the SE-1 system expander sends an OFF command to the TA-1 theater amplifier.
