FortiAnalyzer Unit LED Indicators

FortiAnalyzer system iD.
ID

System status. This light is on when a system or hardware is running
properly. The light blinks when a non-critical condition occurs.
Power indicator.
Hard disk activity. The light flashes as log packets are written to
the FortiAnalyzer hard disk, and when the FortiAnalyzer unit ac-
cesses the hard disk to generate reports.

Connect the FortiAnalyzer unit to a power outlet and to the network hub or switch.
Place the FortiAnalyzer unit on a stable surface. It requires 1.5 inches (3.75 cm) clearance
on each side to allow for cooling.
Make sure the power is not plugged into the wall before connecting the power cable.
The Status light flashes while the unit is starting up and remains lit when the system is up
and running.

Planning the Configuration

You can add the FortiAnalyzer unit to your local FortiGate network to receive log messages
from your local FortiGate units, or connect the FortiAnalyzer unit to the FortiGate units re-
motely using FortiManager. To connect the FortiAnalyzer unit to the FortiGate units remotely,
you must configure the DNS server and the default gateway.
To manage the FortiAnalyzer unit, you can use a computer within the local network or over
the Internet.

Use the RJ-45 to DB-9 cable to connect it to your management computer. To connect to the FortiAnalyzer unit Use a RJ-45 to DB-9 cable to connect the FortiAnalyzer serial port to the management computer serial port.
