NOTICE: The following step requires assistance from an
adult helper.

Push down on handlebars to lift attachment frame.
Reinstall frame around center shaft bearings as an
adult assistant guides gearcase shaft into U-joint
assembly.
IMPORTANT: Make sure gearcase shaft is completely
engaged in U-joint assembly.
7.
Secure each bearing to attachment frame with two
round head square neck bolts and two locking nuts.
See Figure 38.
8.
Tighten bearing set screws. See Figure 31.
9.
Align holes in brush core with center shaft holes and
reinstall four hex bolts through holes. Secure with four
locking nuts. See Figure 28.
10. Reinstall brush shield and secure with four hex bolts
and four flat steel washers.
11. Reconnect spark plug wire.

GEARCASE REPLACEMENT
Remove Gearcase Assembly
NOTICE: Save all hardware for reinstallation.

Remove both brush cores from center shaft. See
steps 1 – 9 of Remove Brushes on page 16. See
Figure 39.
Install Gearcase Assembly
See Figure 40.

Apply a light amount of anti-seize to center shaft.
2.
Apply a light amount of anti-seize to gear shaft
splines.
