High-quality DVD Player with 24-bit/192-kHz DVD-AUDIO and Progressive Scan
The DVD-1600 is designed to bring out the best performance of both pure audio and A/V sources. The Audio Only mode allows
the audio signal from DVD-Audio sources to maintain its purity as it bypasses the video circuitry and is D/A converted at the very
high resolution of 24 bits and 192 kHz sampling. As a video player, the DVD-1600 converts video signals at the very high resolution
of 10-bits and 54 MHz. The DVD-1600 also gives you a Headphone Virtual Surround feature that lets you enjoy the effects of
Dolby Digital multi-channel sound through your headphones.
Design for High-quality DVD Audio Sound
The Hi-Fi and digital technology that DENON has nurtured over its long
years of experience has been tweaked to bring out the vast potential of
DVD-Audio.
• Audio Only Mode
The DVD-1600 includes an Audio Only mode when playing DVD-Audio
sources to turn off the video circuit and ensure that noise does not affect
the purity of the audio signal. The use of thoroughly tested parts ensures
that the high sound quality is consistent and reliable.
• 24-bit, 192-kHz High Resolution Audio D/A Converters
DVD-Audio is capable of reproducing a stunning dynamic range of 144
dB (a theoretical value) over the vast sonic spectrum from around 2 Hz
to nearly 100 kHz. To faithfully reproduce all of the incredible detail that
DVD-Audio has to offer, the DVD-1600 features 24-bit digital-to-analog
conversion, with the ability to handle up to 192-kHz sampling frequen-
cy. This provides incredible dynamic range (theoretically nearly 50 dB
more than CD) along with extended high frequency response (to nearly
100 kHz, compared to CDs 20 kHz high frequency limit).
Bass Management
When playing multi-channel Dolby Digital, LPCM sources, it is possible
to preset speaker configurations and delay times.
Cinema Voice Mode
The Cinema Voice mode lets you raise the volume of just the dialog to
adjust the balance between it and the other components of the sound
such as the background effects. When you are watching a movie, for
instance, this feature lets you hear the dialog more easily. The Cinema
Voice feature works on the analog outputs with Dolby Digital-encoded
DVD sources.

Progressive Scan
Progressive Scan technology represents a vast improvement over
the interlaced scanning method used in TV broadcasts and other
conventional applications, as it can process around twice as much
video data to produce a sharper, noise-free picture with finer details.
High-definition video images are faithfully displayed with optimum
naturalness and beauty.
Highest resolution 10-bit, 54-MHz Video D/A Conversion System
The DVD-1600 employs a 10-bit, 54-MHz video D/A converter.
3 MB Buffer Memory
This unit is equipped with a 3 MB buffer memory to ensure that both
picture and sound are played without interruption when the DVD disc
shifts from layer 1 to layer 2, or in the rare event of a pickup dropout.
3 Picture Modes
The DVD-1600 provides Cinema mode and Custom mode besides the
usual Normal mode for picture quality. Cinema mode expands your
viewing experience by matching picture quality to the scene of the
movie being played. When a dark scene appears, for instance, Cinema
mode automatically detects the details hidden in the darker areas and
makes them easier to see. It suppresses glare on CRT television tubes
and recreates resolution with a graceful touch. User mode lets you
adjust Contrast, Color, and Brightness to improve picture quality
according to your own liking.
Color Component Video Output
The DVD-1600 provides color component video (Y, C
that ensure the best reproduction of fine color detail with today's high-
end video monitors and large screen projectors that feature component
video inputs. This connection method provides the best video quality
compared to "S"-video and composite video connections.
