To replace a damaged starter rope
1. Pull out the starter rope approximately 30 cm.
2. Hold the starter rope pulley (A) with your thumb.

3. Put the starter rope in the notch (B) in the starter
pulley .
4. Put the starter rope around the metal sleeve (C).
5. Let the starter pulley rotate slowly and the starter
rope wind up on the metal sleeve.
6. Remove the starter rope from the metal sleeve.

7. Remove the cover on the starter rope handle (A).

8. Pull the starter rope up through the handle (B).
9. Release the knot (C).
10. Remove the starter rope.
11. Make sure that the recoil spring is clean and not
damaged.
12. Put a new starter rope (A) in the hole in the starter
housing.

13. Pull the starter rope through the starter rope handle
and make a knot at the end of the starter rope (A).

14. Attach the cover on the starter rope handle (B).
15. Adjust the tension of the recoil spring. Refer to
adjust the tension of the recoil spring on page 30 .
