  • Page 20 Printing from AirPrint Compliant Device This document explains how to use AirPrint to print wirelessly from your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to a Canon printer. AirPrint enables you to print photos, email, Web pages and documents from your Apple device directly to your printer without installing a driver.

Important Because some application software does not support AirPrint, Printer Options may not be displayed. If an application software does not let you use printer options, you cannot print from that application software.

  • Page 28 Preparations for Using the Print from E-mail To use this service to print a photo or document, you need to follow the procedure provided below and register the printer. Print the Printer Registration Page's URL and the PIN Code First, print the printer registration page's URL and the PIN code. Check that there is sufficient amount of ink in the printer, and then print using the printer's control panel.

  • Page 43 Confirming that the Power Is On The lamp on the mode button or MENU button is lit blue when the machine is turned on. Even if the LCD is off, if any lamp on these buttons is lit, the machine is on. Note It may take a while for the machine to start printing immediately after you turn on the machine.

Important When you unplug the power cord, press the ON button, then confirm that all the lamps on the operation panel are off. Unplugging the power cord before all the lamps on the operation panel are turned off may cause drying or clogging of the print head and print quality may be reduced.
  • Page 47 LCD and Operation Panel You can use the machine to make copies, send/receive faxes, scan originals, or print photos on a USB flash drive without a computer. You can also make good use of the various functions of the machine using the menu screen and the settings screen on the LCD.

  • Page 49 Entering Numbers, Letters, and Symbols The machine allows you to enter characters using the Numeric buttons when entering information, such as unit name, a recipient's name for coded speed dial, etc. Switching the Input Mode The machine has three input modes: lowercase mode, uppercase mode, and numeric mode. You can use the Numeric buttons to enter characters in each input mode.

To insert a character Move the cursor under the character to the right of the insertion position, then enter the character.   • Page 53 Paper Sources to Load Paper The machine has two paper sources for feeding paper, the cassette (upper) and cassette (lower). The paper source used depends on the page size and media type. Media Types You Can Use Note When printing, select the correct page size and media type. If you select the wrong page size or media type, the machine may feed paper from the wrong paper source or may not print with the proper print quality.

Select the position to load the original according to the size, type, or usage.   • Page 87 Inserting the USB Flash Drive Printable Image Data This machine accepts images taken with a camera compliant with the Design rule for Camera File system (Exif 2.2/2.21/2.3 compliant), TIFF (Exif 2.2/2.21/2.3 compliant). Other image or movie types such as RAW images cannot be printed. The machine accepts images scanned and saved with the machine when Doc.type is set to Photo and Format is set to JPEG (file extension ".jpg").

  • Page 90 Replacing an Ink Tank When remaining ink cautions or errors occur, the message will appear on the LCD to inform you of the error. Take appropriate action according to the message. A Message Is Displayed Note For information on the compatible ink tank, refer to the printed manual: Getting Started. If print results become faint or white streaks appear despite sufficient ink levels, see Maintenance Procedure.
  • Page 91 Open the ink cover. The print head holder moves to the replacement position. Caution Do not hold the print head holder to stop or move it forcibly. Do not touch the print head holder until it stops completely. Important Do not touch the metallic parts or other parts inside the machine. If the ink cover is left open for more than 10 minutes, the print head holder moves to the right.
