17. ADJUSTING THE LONGITUDINAL POSITION OF THE FEED DOG

To protect against possible personal injury due to abrupt start of the machine, be sure to start the following
work after turning the power off and ascertaining that the motor is at rest.

Bring the needle bar to its lowest position. Adjust so that the marker line engraved on the needle bar (the second marker line as
counted from the bottom for the 135 x 17 and DP x 17 needles; the fourth marker line as counted from the bottom for 135 x 5 and
DP x 5 needles) aligns with needle bar lower bushing ❶ . Then, tighten clamping screw ❸ of needle bar connecting stud ❷ .
Align the marker line engraved on the ascending needle bar (the bottommost marker line for the 135 x 17 and DP x 17 needles;
the third marker line as counted from the bottom for the 135 x 5 and DP x 5 needles) aligns with needle bar lower bushing ❶ .
