4. Pull the starter grip lightly until resistance is felt, then pull the starter grip
briskly in the direction of the arrow as shown.
CAUTION:
Do not allow the starter grip to snap back. Return it slowly by hand.
With Electric Starter:
5. Turn the engine switch to the START position. Release the switch when
the engine starts.
CAUTION:
Do not use starter motor more than 5 seconds. If the engine fails to
start, release the key and wait at least 10 seconds before operating the
starter motor.

6. If the choke knob was pulled to the CLOSED position, push to the OPEN
position as the engine warms up.
Oil Alert system
The Oil Alert system is designed to prevent the engine damage caused by
an insufficient amount of oil in the crankcase. Before the oil level in the
crankcase can fall below the safe limit, the Oil Alert indicator light comes on
and the Oil Alert system will stop the engine. If the engine stops or the Oil
Alert indicator light comes on when you pull the starter grip, check the oil
level (P. 4)
