What can I do when I receive a broken package?

Once the Somat Smart is set up, does it always need a WiFi connection?
No, once you have onboarded your device with the app and set the washing preferences, it can work autonomously. However, if you
need to change the cleaning mode it should be connected to the Internet to get an updated setting.
In case you have doubts regarding connection of your device to the Internet, shortly press the reset button on the bottom of the
device console. The LED will reflect the current status of your device:
Violet blinking after a few blue flashes – connection is lost,
Continuous blue flash – connection is stable.
If you are experiencing any issues with the connected device, try to take it out from the dishwasher while setting up the cleaning
mode and move it closer to the router. To initiate a faster reconnection to the WiFi, shortly press the black button in the bottom of
the device.
If you have been changing something like ISP (Internet Service Provider), Wi-Fi network password, etc., you will have to set up the
devices again like any normal Wi-Fi enabled device.
I am trying Somat Smart in the home Wi-Fi condition, but its connection is not easy. How to deal with it?
• This device is a Wi-Fi certified product and works like your phone or computer with the same advantages and limitations. If
you have problems to connect the device to your Wi-Fi, make sure that:
• You have a normal ISP (Internet Service Provider) router with a Wi-Fi Network running in the 2.4. Ghz frequency of a wireless
signal.
• Your ISP router is properly connected to the internet. Hint: Check the rest of your devices if they are working.
• Make sure that the password you have introduced during the on-boarding still works. If your Wi-Fi network password has been
changed, you have to set up your devices again.
• Make sure that you have no Firewall protecting your home WiFi from the new devices.
• Make sure that you have the latest version for the App. We are updating the App to make sure that your experience will be the
best.
• You can always reset your device by pressing the button on the black button of the main console for 5 seconds. The device will
reset the Wi-Fi connection and will be ready for the re-onboarding.
Why does the device lose internet connection? (Blinking Violet)?
The possible reason is that the range distance to the router is too large. Bring the dispenser closer to the router or install a Wi-Fi
Repeater in your home Wi-Fi network.
How to remove the refill?
To replace the empty refill please follow instructions on page 4 step 3. Avoid touching the spill detergent and in case you touch
please clean your hands with water.
What can I do when my device is leaking?
Never disconnect a not fully emptied refill unit from the white dosing unit, to avoid leakage and contact with the cleaning fluids. If
the product is leaking, please contact Henkel Customer Service in Germany (0800)1112290; in U.S.A. (800) 457-8739.
What should I do if the battery from Somat Smart console is empty?
In case battery is running empty, the device LED button will blink red. New battery is available with the purchase of the new refill
cartridge.
Battery that is used in the console of Somat Smart is a non-rechargeable battery. Do not recharge!
Why couldn't I set up my device? I have been trying this for many times?
There are multiple reasons why you may not be able to connect the dispenser to the Wi-Fi:
a. The most seen issue is that you have typed in the wrong Wi-Fi password.
b. Another likely reason can be that the smartphone can find the home Wi-Fi, but the dispenser cannot. It would be helpful to bring the
dispenser closer to the router.

c. It might be also possible that you have activated a firewall, or the router is limited to use for web browsing. The diffuser needs a
free /  unlimited access to the internet to work. It could be stuck in setup, if the access is limited.
d. Another reason might be that the connection to the backend server fails during setup. In this case, please try to set it up again.
e. If you see that dispenser is set up (stopped blinking blue and violet) but your setup process in the App is not completed,
try to go to the settings of the phone and check if it has reconnected to your home Wi-Fi.
» Dispenser is still blinking blue and violet – the device is still in the setup mode. Probably the settings were not sent properly or the
WiFi password was not correct. You should repeat the installation process.
» No LED. Press the black button on the bottom of the console to check the dispenser status.
• I f it is blinking green – the device is configured as offline. To onboarded it in the app, press the button for 5 seconds and
initiate the onboarding in the app.
• If it is blinking blue – the device is connected to the Wi-Fi. However, make sure that the WiFi provides a proper signal with the
Internet.
• If it is blinking violet – the device is trying to connect to the WiFi, but cannot succeed due to lack of the WiFi signal or wrong
password.
Can I use Somat Smart without being connected to the app? If so, how to do it step by step?
To enjoy and use Somat Smart, we strongly recommend using with the App even though you can use the device offine with certain
limitations. (e.g. Set Customized Cleaning Modes, See Remaining Number of Washing Cycles. Reorder Refill Automatically,
Get Reminder for Machine Cleaning & Dishwashing Tips).
If you still want to use Somat Smart without the app, just plug in the battery and leave it for five minutes, until the LED light stops
blinking blue/violet. The device will go into the offline mode, afterwards you can place it in a dishwasher.
What is the difference between a 'one-time' and 'regular' modes?
Regular modes are repetitive for any next wash. They were designed especially for the daily usage. One-time modes were created
for the special occasions. They will only be used once, and the device will automatically to back to the regular mode in the next
cycle.
How can I change a mode?
Use the Somat Smart app to change the mode before any wash. Once the wash cycle has been started there is no possibility to
change the mode, as the algorithm is prepared at the beginning of the wash cycle.
What mode is set, when I use the device without an app?
The standard mode for 25 Wash cycles per cartridge.
Is the LED on the device always active while using? Or is the LED light only active in application stage?
The LED is on only when it is in the setup mode, or when user wakes the device app by pressing the button on the bottom of the
console.
Can I use Somat Smart in every dishwasher?
You can use it in every dishwasher. Make sure that the device does not block the spray arms of your dishwasher. If you are not sure
check before starting by giving the spray arm in the top and bottom a little kick. They should not touch your device.
Can I use Somat Smart with any kind of dishwasher cleaning cycle?
We recommend using the Eco cycle on your dishwasher. The Eco cycle is the most efficient cycle in terms of energy and water
consumption and performance. Of course, Somat Smart works in every cycle (except the pre-wash). Somat Smart adapts to the
chosen cycle and dispenses the right amount of detergents at the right time.
Do I have to fill in salt and rinse?
Up to a water hardness of 21°Gh you don´t need to fill in salt. Anyway, if you have salt in the salt container it does not negatively
influence the performance. Somat Smart contains rinser in a separate compartment and doses the rinser at the right time in the
dishwashing cycle. Therefore, you don´t need to refill the rinse aid compartment. If you still have rinser in the compartment, please
reduce the dosage to the minimum amount to avoid any overdosage or disable dosage. Please refer to your dishwasher's manual.
