Notes:
1) The driver does not work on Win98 Gold. This is because Win98 Gold has weak WDM support. For
customers using Win95 and Win98 Gold, they can just use the current driver that we have. This current
driver is the VFW driver (Video for Windows). On this one, too, we will have a new release from the
vendor.
2) The New driver comes with a Microsoft Direct Show application called AMCAP. You can use this
application for Live Video Test, Bandwidth Adjustment and Video capture. This application runs on
both Win 98SE and Win2000. For Video Editing you can use MGI VideoWave III SE( the one we
currently have).
3) On Win2000, you need to close your video application e.g. AMCAP if you are putting the computer to
sleep mode or you will be letting the computer go to sleep after a set time. Also, after sleep wait at
least 30 seconds before opening the video application again. This is because Win2000 re-detects
devices attached to it after coming from sleep mode. You do not need to do the above on Win98SE.
4) The VideoBus WDM driver has an added feature wherein you can connect multiple videobuses but
only up to two (2). If the user wants to use two(2) video buses he needs to do the following:
a) Connect the videobuses one at a time. Make sure the first device is working (do a live video test
using AMCAP with a camera) before connecting the second videobus. After setting up the first
videobus on AMCAP, go to Options/Capture Filter/Advance then lower the Bandwidth to 3.0.
You need to give some space if you are connecting a second videobus. You need to do this step
again after setting up the second videobus to give the USB Host Controller some leverage for
signal processing. You can open AMCAP twice to view the second camera attached to the second
videobus.
b) On both Win98 SE and Win2000, all video applications (e.g. AMCAP) should be closed before
putting the computer to sleep mode.
c) Settings on AMCAP are only put on RAM memory, so, if you are using two cameras, you need to
set them up again after the computer is restarted. You need to remember which is the first and
second. The 2 videobuses will be enumerated exactly the same. Right now the only way to
distinguish one videobus from the other is by taking into account the location of cameras attached
to them.
