WARNING:
It is unlawful in most jurisdictions for a person to drive a motor vehicle which is equipped with a
television viewer or screen that is located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of
the driver's seat, or that is visible, directly or indirectly, to the driver while operating the vehicle.
This product should only be installed to the rear of the driver's seat where it will not be visible,
directly or indirectly, to the operator of the motor vehicle.
Note:
Installation may require Mini-Console (trim Ring), order number 1181300.
CONTENTS:
1 – VOHBKT
4 – #8 x 3/8" Self-tapping screw
TOOLS REQUIRED:
! Screw gun w/#2 phillips tip
! Utility/razor knife
General Installation Approach:
1. Before beginning installation, please refer to warning at the top of the page.
2. Review all manuals to become familiar with all methods and installation procedures.
Vehicle preparation:
1. Mounting location and method for the individual components will vary from vehicle to vehicle, so this manual will
only focus on traditional installations only.
2. Generally, the best location of the video pod is where the vehicle's dome light is traditionally installed (center of
roof, just behind the front seats). The pod should be located in such a manner that it can be comfortably viewed by
the rear seat passengers in the vehicle. The pod should NEVER be located in a position that would place it within
the driver's field of view. This is not only hazardous for driving conditions (as it creates a distraction to the driver).
But it is against the law in many states. Check your state laws.
3. Once pod location has been determined, there may be prep work required for the headliner. Some of the steps
that may need to be taken depending upon your installations are:
a. Removing of the vehicles dome light.
b. A section of the headliner MAY have to be cut out per bracket dimensions.
c. If the mini-console (1181300) is being used, it will have to be trimmed to fit the contour of the headliner.
Note:
Steps a thru c listed above are not required steps in all installations... you may have to do none, some,
or all steps.
Installation instructions:
1. Locate either dome light or cross member in appropriate area for your installation.
2. Cut headliner to the dimension of the VOHBKT OVERHEAD BRACKET shown in diagram below (CAUTION: USE
EXTREME CARE WHEN CUTTING HEADLINER MATERIAL. CHECK FOR WIRING OR OTHER COMPONENTS
ABOVE HEADLINER MATERIAL. CUT ONLY WHERE INDICATED).
3. Mount the VOHBKT OVERHEAD BRACKET using the supplied hardware enclosed and shown in below illustration.
Check for proper screw size for every car (SCREW SIZE MAY VARY FROM VEHICLE TO VEHICLE). Place
bracket up to metal cross member with both flanges facing towards the vehicle roof. Fasten the VOHBKT to the
Roof Support Brackets using the supplied screws (screws will pass through the larger hole in the bracket into the
smaller hole and into the Roof Support Bracket as shown in the diagram on page 2). (USE CAUTION NOT
TO SCREW THROUGH THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE).
Note:
If roof supports run front to back instead of side to side, the bracket can be rotated 90° so that bracket flanges
are perpendicular to the roof supports.
4. After wiring the car as per the equipment's specifications mount pod to the mini-console using the pods hardware
package. Flip down the pod's screen and using the screws and washers that come with the pod mount the monitor
by screwing through the screw bosses of the pod and into the screw holes on the VOHBKT OVERHEAD BRACKET
(make sure the unit in straight and centered). Now test the system for all functions.
