Problem

Possible Cause
Engine seized.
Oil compression lock in cylinder.
Insufficient oil or fuel.
No fuel.
Disconnected spark plug wire.
Degraded fuel.
Dirty or clogged air filter.
Faulty, dirty, or damaged spark plug.
Incorrect throttle or choke settings.
Incorrect choke settings.
Dirty or clogged air filter.
Faulty, dirty, or damaged spark plug.
Degraded fuel.
Dirty engine oil.
Clogged or dirty cooling fins.
Correction
Verify engine oil level. Contact an IASD if problem
persists.
Remove the spark plug; hold a rag over the spark
plug hole and pull the recoil cord several times to
blow out any oil in the cylinder. Wipe off the spark
plug and reinstall it. Contact an IASD if problem
persists.
Check oil and fuel level.
Replenish fuel and verify fuel shutoff is ON.
Verify spark plug wire is attached.
Use only fresh, clean, unleaded gas. If fuel is old,
drain fuel and replace with fresh, clean gas. Use
fuel stabilizer if fuel is kept for a month or longer.
Replace air filter according to engine manufac-
turer recommendations if dirty.
Verify spark plug is clean. If spark plug is dirty or
cracked: change it. If spark plug is oily: leave it
out, hold a rag over spark plug hole and pull recoil
cord several times to blow out any oil in cylinder.
Wipe off spark plug and insert it.
Check throttle and choke settings, adjustment
and travel.
Verify choke lever is all the way off.
Replace air filter according to engine manufac-
turer recommendations if dirty.
Verify spark plug is clean. If spark plug is dirty or
cracked: change it. If spark plug is oily: leave it
out, hold a rag over spark plug hole and pull recoil
cord several times to blow out any oil in cylinder.

Drain and replace engine oil.
Inspect cooling fins. Clean as needed.
