Rx Troubleshooting

Rx System Block Diagram

Rx Introduction

The GRF6401 IC (Figure 9) provides the Zero-IF receiver signal path for Cellular-CDMA
reception. For this chipset, Cellular-CDMA refers to band class 0 as defined by the
cdma2000 standard, with mobile station receivers operating between 869 and 894 MHz. The
Rx signal path includes the LNA, Rx saw filter, quadrature downconversion, and baseband
functions. The Cellular-CDMA receive signal is routed from the antenna to the cellular LNA
IC via the duplexer. The analog baseband outputs interface with Via's CBP5.6 that also
provide status and control signaling. Integrated Rx LO circuits, ideally supplemented by the
GRF6401 transceiver IC, provide frequency plan flexibility and further reduce PCB parts
count.

AMS Setup for Rx Troubleshooting

Put PWB on the module jig. Use the following steps to configure AMS for RF RX
troubleshooting.
1. Connect RF connector to a CMU200 or 8960 .
2. Connect the PWB to a PC via the Module Jig, and connect a power supply.
3. Open AMS Tools software and select RF Tool.
4. Choose CP Enable, Enable"off", then send.
5. Choose DSPM AFC Config. Set Pdm Val "0x0200", then send
