    BAND 1 1 1 1 1 SETUP MUTE Controllable with Remote Control This unit can be controlled with an optional Alpine remote control. For details, consult your Alpine dealer. Point the optional remote control transmitter at the remote control sensor.

    Display Angle Adjustment Movable display The movable display may be adjusted to 3 different angles depending upon user preference. Press the ANGLE 89 button to adjust the angle of the movable display. NOTES The display will close a half minute after the ignition key is turned to the OFF position.

    Basic Operation SOURCE BAND g DN f UP BASS.C Selecting BBE Mode The BBE (Barcus Berry Electronics) processor installed in this unit is designed to correct the phase distortion inherent in most loudspeaker designs. Ensuring the phase integrity of the signal driving the speakers improves the accurate reproduction of the sound.

    Radio Operation SOURCE Manual Storing of Station Presets Select the radio band and tune in a desired radio station you wish to store in the preset memory. Press and hold any one of the Preset buttons (1 through 6) for at least 2 seconds until the station frequency on the display blinks.

    Storing into Direct Access Preset (D.A.P.) Band A combination of radio stations in any band (up to 6 stations) can be manually preset into the D.A.P. band. Press and hold the D.A.P. button for more than 2 seconds until the D.A.P. indicator appears. Press the BAND button to select FM or AM.

    CDM-7871, you can control the CD changer using the CDM-7871. NOTE The CD controls on the CDM-7871 for the CD changer operation are functional only when the CD Changer is interconnected with the CDM-7871. Press the SOURCE button to activate the CHANGER mode.

    ERROR - 01 • Malfunction in the CD Changer. - Consult your Alpine dealer. Press the magazine eject button and pull out the magazine. Check the indication. Insert the magazine again. If the magazine cannot be pulled out, consult your Alpine dealer.

    Precautions Be sure to disconnect the cable from the (–) battery post before installing your CDM-7871. This will reduce any chance of damage to the unit in case of a short-circuit. Be sure to connect the color coded leads according to the diagram.

    Connect each input lead coming from an amplifier or equalizer to the corresponding output lead coming from the left rear of the CDM-7871. Connect all other leads of the CDM-7871 according to details described in the CONNECTlONS section.

  • Page 21 Connect the ground lead securely to a bare metal spot (remove any paint, dirt or grease if necessary) of the car chassis. If you add an optional noise suppressor, connect it as far away from the unit as possible. Your Alpine dealer carries various noise suppressors. Contact them for further information.
