these instructions are not complied with.
Automatic switch-off
To save energy, the appliance will switch
itself off automatically about 30 minutes
after the brewing cycle is complete.
If the unit has been disconnected from
the mains after the automatic switch-off,
the rotary control must be turned to its
position before the appliance is
reconnected.
Operation
Multiple-function rotary control
The multiple-function control has the
following settings:
Espresso: hot water outlet open,
heating element switched on.
Pause: the heating is switched
off, but the appliance is still under
pressure
Off: The appliance switches off
and the pressure is released
Steam: steam nozzle open,
heating element switched on.
Indicator light
The red indicator light is lit when the
heating element is switched on and
brewing is in progress.
Before using for the first time
Unpack the appliance completely and
remove all packaging materials. But do
not remove the safety sticker. Clean all
detachable parts as described in the
section Cleaning and care.
Before making espresso for the first
time, let the appliance go through two or
three filtration cycles using the indicated
maximum amount of water as described in
the section Making espresso, but without
using any coffee. This should also be done
if the appliance has not been used for an
extended period of time.
Making espresso
∙ Open the screw-in lid by turning it anti-
clockwise.
∙ Fill the container with cold tap water.
The glass jug shows level marks for
two or four cups. Only the required
amount of water should be used for
each brewing cycle (min 2 cups - max 4
cups).
∙ Replace the lid and close it by turning
clockwise.
∙ Place the filter insert inside the filter
holder.
∙ Use the measuring scoop to fill the
filter insert with the desired amount of
espresso coffee; reverse the spoon
and lightly press the coffee down. The
corresponding markings for the correct
amount of espresso coffee can be found
inside the filter insert.
∙ Remove any excess coffee from the rim
of the filter holder.
∙ Fit the filter holder to the hot water outlet
with its handle facing left. To lock, turn
