2013
• A choice of two technologically advanced, high-output EcoBoost engines, 1.6L I-4 and 2.0L I-4, deliver a
combination of power and economy
• All-new 1.6L EcoBoost engine is the latest addition to the EcoBoost family of powerful and efficient engines,
providing 178 horsepower
• 2.0L EcoBoost produces the same horsepower and more torque than the 3.0L V6 it's replacing from
previous-generation Escape models
• Lighter, more efficient 2.5L I-4 shares many components with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine to help save weight,
improve quality and increase economy
• Low-tension front-end accessory drive belt on the 2.5L engine helps reduce friction and, in turn, reduce
fuel consumption
Engine Choices
The all-new 2013 Escape offers three engines that
provide efficiency and power.
• 2.5L iVCT I-4
• 1.6L EcoBoost I-4 — the latest addition to the
EcoBoost family debuts in the 2013 Escape
• 2.0L EcoBoost I-4
1.6L EcoBoost I-4
• 178 horsepower @ 5700 rpm
• 184 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2500 rpm
• Mated to the 6-speed SelectShift Automatic
transmission
• Standard on SE and SEL (FWD or 4WD)
2.0L EcoBoost I-4
• 240 horsepower @ 5500 rpm
• 270 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3000 rpm
– Delivers a broad, flat torque curve with
maximum torque through the powerband
for sustained acceleration
• Cast iron crankshaft, balance shaft and silent chain
cam drive system contribute to improved durability
• Integrated exhaust manifold
– Helps reduce weight
– Optimizes exhaust flow for efficiency
– Helps enhance durability
• Fast-acting "gooseneck" turbo connects directly to
exhaust manifold
– Funnels exhaust energy at the turbine for
quicker response
– Withstands higher temperatures for increased
durability and reliability, thanks to cast
stainless steel turbine housing
– Features oil lubrication system and is water
cooled to help ensure long life
• Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor tracks and notifies
customer of oil change intervals of up to 10,000 miles

Exhaust Manifold Water Jacket
The exhaust manifold is integrated with the cast
aluminum cylinder head and is surrounded by
a coolant jacket, or water jacket. The purpose
of this water jacket is to keep cylinder head
temperatures down since the cylinder head
is integrated with the exhaust manifold and
the exhaust gasses exiting the cylinders are
extremely hot.
