Using the Nikon D90
VR switch. This allows you to turn
the Vibration Reduction (VR) on or
off (if your lens is VR-equipped).
When shooting in bright light with
fast shutter speeds or using a tripod,
it's best to turn the VR off to reduce
battery consumption.
Focus mode selector. This switch
is used to choose between using
the lens in Auto or Manual mode.
You also use this switch if a lens
doesn't have its own switch, such
as a non-AF-S lens.

Built-in fl ash. This is a handy fea-
ture that allows you to take sharp

Although not as versatile as one of
the external Nikon Speedlights,
such as the SB-900, SB-800, or
SB-600, the built-in fl ash can be
used very eff ectively and is great for
snapshots. You can also use the
built-in fl ash as the commander for
wireless remote fl ash.
