17 Troubleshooting
Condition LEDs on Battery
Hedge trimmer cuts 3 LEDs glow red. Hedge trimmer is too hot.
out during operation.
Hedge trimmer
runtime is too short.

Cause
There is a electrical
malfunction.
Battery not fully charged.
Normal battery life has
been exceeded.
Remedy
► Pull the connecting cable plug out of the socket.
► Allow the hedge trimmer to cool down.
► Pull connecting cable plug out of the socket and
then refit it.
► If hedge trimmer continues to cut out during
operation: Clean contacts of connecting cable as
described in the STIHL AR battery's instruction
manual or in the user instructions for the "AP belt
bag with connecting cable".
► Switch on the hedge trimmer.
► Recharge the battery fully as described in the
instruction manual for the STIHL AL 101, 300, 500
chargers.
► Replace the battery.
