This function allows you to play back any pre-recorded cassette.

Switch on both the television and your DVD-VCR.

Insert the video cassette to be played. If the safety tab on the
cassette is intact, press ll.
Otherwise, the cassette is played automatically.
When a cassette is loaded, the tape position is optimized
automatically to reduce disturbance (Digital Auto Tracking).
When playing a cassette, if the end of the tape is reached,
the cassette is rewound automatically.
NTSC tapes can be played back but cannot be recorded
with this DVD-VCR.

Stop the playback (STOP).
Eject the cassette (EJECT).
The Picture Alignment feature enables you to optimize the tape
position automatically to obtain the best possible picture.
When noise bars or streaks appear during playback, adjust picture
alignment by pressing the ATR button.
Result: The tracking bar appears.
The picture is automatically adjusted.
The tracking bar disappears when digital auto tracking has
been completed.
The Picture Adjustment feature allows you to adjust the alignment
manually to obtain the best possible picture.
When noise bars or streaks appear during playback, adjust alignment
manually by pressing the TRK (+ or -) buttons until the picture is clear and
stable.
Result: The tracking bar appears.
The image is adjusted.
The tracking bar disappears when you release the button.

Intelligent Picture Control

The Intelligent Picture Control Feature allows you to adjust the
sharpness of the image automatically, according to your own
preferences.

During playback, press the SETUP button on the remote control.
Result: The programming menu is displayed.

Press the corresponding , or , buttons to select the
USER SET option.

Press the OK button to select this option.
Result: The menu is displayed.

Press the corresponding or buttons, until the cursor is
placed in front of the I P C option.
5 Press the button to select the IPC (intelligent picture control)
option.
When intelligent picture control mode is

To adjust the sharpness manually, press the button to turn the
IPC mode O F F .

Press the or buttons until the picture is displayed according to
your preferences.
If you do not press a button within ten seconds, the
PICTURE menu disappears automatically.

On completion, press the SETUP button again.

Record Source

You can set the SV-DVD1E to record from a variety of sources,
including the Tuner, DVD deck, AV or AUX input. The Auto setting
will record whatever is currently visible on-screen, as set by the TV
VIEW button.

Press the corresponding or buttons, until the cursor is placed
in front of the RECORD SOURCE option.
5 Press the button to select from the following options.
The DVD-VCR will record from:
AUTO: Whatever is currently visible on screen.
Tuner: The SV-DVD1E's built-in television tuner.
AV1, AV2: An external source, such as a satellite receiver,
connected to the scart jack.
AUX: An external source, such as a camcoder, connected
to the rear RCA JACK inputs.
DVD: A DVD playing in the DVD deck.
