9. Make sure the stem has no sharp edges on the contact area for the steerer or
the handlebar. This could result in serious accidents. In case you change your
stem to another model or brand please contact your authorized SCOTT/SYN-
CROS dealer. SCOTT will not be liable in case a not originally provided SCOTT
or SYNCROS stem is used on the bike assembly. In case of further questions
please contact your authorized SCOTT/SYNCROS dealer or the national dis-
tributor of SCOTT/SYNCROS.
WARNING
Use a proper stem and headset design during installation.
We recommend the use of a SYNCROS stem and headset with the installation
of a SCOTT/SYNCROS carbon fork as they are designed to work together. If you
choose to use another manufactures product, make sure it is compatible with this
SCOTT/SYNCROS carbon fork. SCOTT assumes no responsibility for problems
resulting from none SCOTT/SYNCROS components.
Never use more than 40 mm stack height of spacers between headset and stem.
Do not use more than 5 mm stack height of spacer above the stem between
the top cap of the headset and the stem.
Do use minimum 5 mm stack height of spacer below the stem between the cap
of the headset and the stem.

5. Loosen the expander bolt slightly with an 6 mm Allen
key at (A) so the wedges (B) at the top and bottom of
the expander moves (make sure not to over loosen as
the expander will not tighten when inserted into the
steerer).
6. Slide the expander into the carbon steerer (e) until it is
flush with the top of the steerer.
7. Tighten the expander bolt with the 6 mm Allen key at
(A) to a torque of 8/9 Nm pressure, making sure that
the expander stays flush to the top of the steerer and
doesn't lift slightly.
8. Clamp the stem onto the steering tube with a maximum
of 5-7 Nm (f) and respect also the maximum torque indi-
cation of the stem supplier. The lower value indicated on
those items has to be accepted as a maximum torque.
