Troubleshooting
Problem
The sound suddenly
goes off.
Sound is heard from
the speaker on one
side only.
Only the center
speaker outputs
substantial sound.
No sound is heard
from the center
speaker.
No sound is heard
from the presence
speakers.
No sound is heard
from the surround
speakers.
No sound is heard
from the surround
back speakers.
Zone 2 speaker
settings are not
available in "SET
MENU".
FRONT B speakers
cannot be activated.
No sound from the
center, surround or
surround back
speakers when the
FRONT B speakers
are activated.
Presence speaker
settings are not
available in "SET
MENU".

Cause
The protection circuitry has been activated
because of a short circuit, etc.
The sleep timer has turned this unit off.
The sound is muted.
Incorrect cable connections.
Incorrect settings in "SPEAKER
LEVEL".
When playing a monaural source with a
CINEMA DSP program, the source signal
is directed to the center channel, and the
front and surround speakers output effect
sounds.
"CENTER SP" in "SET MENU" is set to
"NONE".
One of the HiFi DSP programs (except for
"7ch Stereo") has been selected.
The sound field programs are turned off.
You are using a source or program
combination that does not output sound
from all channels.
"EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting
other than "PRESENCE".
"SUR. L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set to
"NONE".
This unit is in the "STRAIGHT" mode
and a monaural source is being played
back.
"SUR. L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set to
"NONE" and "SUR.B L/R SP" is
automatically set to "NONE".
"SUR.B L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set
to "NONE".
"EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting
other than "ZONE2".
"EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting
other than "FRONT B".
"FRONT B" in "SPEAKER SET" is set to
"ZONE B".
"EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting
other than "PRESENCE".
Remedy
Check that the speaker impedance setting is correct.
Check that the speaker wires are not touching each
other and then turn this unit back on.
Turn this unit on, and play the source again.
Press L MUTE or J VOLUME +/– on the remote
control to resume audio output.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.
Adjust the "SPEAKER LEVEL" settings.
Set "CENTER SP" to "SML" or "LRG".
Try another sound field program.
Press E STRAIGHT to turn them on.
Try another sound field program.
Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "PRESENCE".
Set "SUR. L/R SP" to "SML" or "LRG".
Press E STRAIGHT on the front panel so that
"STRAIGHT" disappears from the front panel
display.
Set "SUR. L/R SP" and "SUR.B L/R SP" to a setting
other than "NONE".
Set "SUR.B L/R SP" to a setting other than "NONE".
Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "ZONE2".
Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "FRONT B".
Set "FRONT B" to "FRONT".
Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "PRESENCE".
