Start-Up

Before attempting to start the heater, read and understand the sequence of
operations and electrical schematic.
Ensure all doors and service panels have been closed or replaced.
1.
Turn main disconnect switch off. Check the incoming line voltage to match
unit nameplate rating. If voltage is over ±10% of nameplate rating or phase
voltage unbalance is over 2%, notify contractor or power company.
2. Turn main disconnect switch on. Turn FAN-OFF-ON Switch to ON position.
Damper opens (if applicable). Blower fan turns on.
3. Turn FAN-OFF-ON switch to OFF position. Check supply blower for proper
rotation.
The maintenance and troubleshooting procedures recommended in this section
of the manual could result in exposure to electrical, mechanical or other
potential safety hazards. Always refer to the safety warnings provided
throughout the manual concerning these procedures. When possible, disconnect
all electrical power including remote disconnects before servicing. Follow proper
lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power can not be inadvertently
energized. When necessary to work with live electrical components, have a
qualified licensed electrician or other individual who has been trained in
handling live electrical components perform these tasks. Failure to follow all of
the recommended safety warnings provided, could result in death or serious
injury.
Note: To change rotation of the blower, simply interchange any two of the line
leads of the motor starter for three-phase motors. On single phase
motors, refer to motor nameplate.
4. Turn FAN-OFF-ON switch to ON position. Check for proper blower RPM.
Check that all motor amp draws do not exceed nameplate ratings and
overloads are set to motor nameplate amps.
5. Check all dampers for proper operation, and linkage does not bind, see
Sequence of Operation.
6. Ensure all manual gas valves are closed.
7.
Reset flame relay.
8. Turn FAN and HEAT OFF-ON switches to OFF position.
1.
Check the gas pressure by replacing the plug fitting on the pilot line with a
pressure gauge having appropriate range and opening the manual pilot
valve. Check that the pressure reading is within the specified range on the
nameplate.
