Replacing the drive disc
Dismantle the drive disc using a hammer
and a mandrel.
TIP!
The drive disc can sit very tightly on
the shaft. If this is the case, warm
the drive disc carefully using a hot
air gun, but make sure the drive
dogs are not damaged by the heat.
Remove the circlip and replace any dam-
aged drive dog or spring.
Replacing the drive disc
The drive disc is threaded on the crank-
shaft.
Loosen the drive disc using a hammer and
a mandrel.
TIP!
To stop the piston moving against
the top dead centre in the cylinder,
the end of an approximately 200
mm long trimmer cord (Ø 3 mm), for
example, can be pushed through
the spark plug hole to position it
between the piston and the top of
the cylinder. Bend the cord at the
end to make it easier to position it
correctly on top of the piston. The
cord should not be pushed through
any port in the cylinder wall!
Remove the circlip holding the drive dog.
Remove the drive dog and spring for
replacing.
Assemble in the reverse order as set out
for dismantling.
NOTE!
The drive dog should be placed in
the hole marked "R".
