2 Attaching the pen (included) to the computer
Use the tether to attach the pen (included) to the computer so you
will not lose it. Remove the pen from the computer, and then per-
form the following steps to attach the tether to the pen (A and B)
and the computer (C and D).
A Pass one of the loops
through the hole.

C Thread the second loop on
the tether through the hole
(A) as illustrated.
CAUTION
 Do not pull the tether with excessive force. The pen (included) may
hit the computer, person's body or other objects when released.
3 Connect your computer to a power outlet
A Open the cover.
B Connect your computer to a power outlet.
The battery charging starts automatically.
CAUTION
 Do not disconnect the AC adaptor until the first-time operation
procedure is completed.
 When using the computer for the first time, do not connect any
peripheral device (including wired LAN cable) except the battery
pack and AC adaptor.
 Handling the AC adaptor
 Problems such as sudden voltage drops may arise during pe-
riods of thunder and lightning. Since this could adversely affect
your computer, an uninterruptible power source (UPS) is highly
recommended unless running from the battery pack alone.
4 Turn on the computer
Press and hold the power switch
(C) lights.
CAUTION
 Do not press the power switch repeatedly or do not hold the
power switch for four seconds or longer.
B Pass one of the loops
through another loop.
D Pass the pen and tether
through the second loop.
