Cause
Disconnected switch, or circuit breaker is in ON
position
Thermal overload open
Locked motor shaft
Low voltage
Pump is not primed
Closed valve in the suction or discharge line
Air leakage into the suction piping
Impeller clogged
Shaft seal requires replacement
Valve in the suction or discharge line partly closed
Suction or discharge line partly plugged
Suction or discharge line is too small
Plugged basket in skimmer or hair and lint strainer
Dirty filter
Impeller clogged
Discharge valve or inlet fittings closed too much
Return lines is too small
Dirty filters
Plugged basket in skinner or hair in lint strainer
Worn motor bearings
Valve in suction line partly closed
Suction line partly plugged
Vacuum hose plugged or too small
Pump not supported properly
Leakage of air into the suction line connections or
valve stem
Cover gasket of hair and lint strainer needs
cleaning
Low water level in the pool
Disconnect switch or circuit breaker is in OFF
position

Check electrical wiring
Let the motor naturally cool down
Check for obstructions inside pump body
Check that electric power is 220-240VAC
Suction lines, pump, strainer, and pump body are not
full with water
Open the valves in the suction and discharge lines
Check for leakage in the piping system
Disassemble the pump and clear obstructions within
the pump body
Replace seal
Fully open both valves
Check and clean obstructions
The suction and discharge lines must be 1.5"
Clean the basket
Backwash the filter
Disassemble the pump and clear obstructions within
the impeller
Re-do the piping system layout
Enlarge the return lines
Backwash the filter
Clean the strainer basket
Replace bearings
Open the suction valve
Check for obstructions
Clean the vacuum hose or enlarge it
Check the base mounting screw and tighten as needed
Check for piping air leakage
Clean the basket and check the lid O-ring
Add water to the pool
Check electrical wiring
Let the motor naturally cool down
Check for obstructions within the pump body
Check that electric power is 220-240VAC
Suction lines, pump, strainer, and pump body need to
be filled with water
Open valves in the suction and discharge lines
Check for leakage in the piping system
Clean obstruction inside the pump body
