Power supply units

Power supply units (PSUs) are subcomponents of enclosures. A PSU takes electrical power from the rack
Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and distributes the power to other components in the enclosure.
For redundancy, two PSUs are installed in the enclosure.

SSR access port

The SSR access port is a designated Ethernet port on the back panel of the canister that a service
personnel can use to initialize a system.
You can use the SSR access port to do the following tasks:
• Check the hardware
• Set the IP address of the management interface
Each of the canisters in the Elastic Storage System 3000 has a 1 Gb Ethernet SSR access port, as shown
in Figure 7 on page 20. Because canister 2 is inverted, the plug of the Ethernet cable also needs to be
inverted to connect to the SSR access port.

EMS node specifications

The ESS 3000 system uses one EMS node in the basic configuration. The EMS node acts as the
management server and provides infrastructure for hardware monitoring and hosts GUI.
The EMS server has the following roles:
• Quorum node
• GUI server
• Call home (ESA) server
For more information on the EMS node, see Model 5148-21L and 5148-22L server specifications.
